An American Werewolf in London is a 1981 horror comedy movie released by Universal. Since its release, the film has become a cult classic.
Plot[]
Two friends from New York named David and Jack are traveling through the moors of Yorkshire. As night falls, they stop at a local pub, where they see a pentagram on the wall. They are warned by the people to stay clear of the moors and beware the full moon. David and Jack ignore the warnings and wander off into the moors, where they are attacked by a huge canine-like creature, it mauls Jack to death and scratches David before being shot, where the creature's corpse transforms into a human.
David wakes up at a hospital in London, where the doctors conclude that Jack was killed by an escaped lunatic. Later, David is visited by an undead Jack, who's spirit is stuck in limbo. He tells David that they were attacked by a werewolf, and that David is one too after being bitten. The only way to break the curse and set Jacks soul free is for David to die. David doesn't believe Jack though. Throughout his hospital stay, David has nightmares about nazi werewolves murdering him and his family.
After some time has passed, David is released from the hospital and is invited to stay with Nurse Alex at her flat in London. Alex has become very fond of David while she treated him at the hospital. While there, David is advised again by Jack to kill himself before the full moon tomorrow night. Meanwhile, Dr. Hirsch investigates the pub where the people deny any knowledge of David, except one pub-goer, who says he will endanger other people after being transformed at the next full moon.
The next day, Alex leaves for work while David stays home and watches television. That night, David undergoes a painful transformation into a werewolf, breaks out of the flat, and murders six people. He wakes up the next morning naked at the London Zoo, as he leaves, David steals a child's balloons in order to hide his private parts. He returns to Alex's flat not remembering being a werewolf. David is in a very good mood much to Alex's surprise.
On their way in a taxi, David realizes what he has done, and unsuccessfully tries to get arrested at Trafalgar square. He calls his family from New York in a phone booth telling them he loves them, and tries to slit his wrists with a pocketknife, but doesn't go through with it. David sees Jack go into an adult theater and follows him. Jack looks even more decayed and introduces David to the spirits of the people he murdered, who are quite angry with him and suggests suicide methods to set them free.
David transforms into a werewolf again and murders more people at London's Piccadilly Circus. The police track and surround David in an alley. Alex arrives and tells David that she loves him, which briefly causes werewolf David to recognize her, but it doesn't last and tries to pounce on her, however, he is shot by the police. Alex cries as she looks at a reverted human David lying naked and dead on the ground.
