"The Whining" is a Halloween episode of the TV series Jessie. It first aired in the United States on the Disney Channel on October 5, 2012. The episode is a parody of the movie, The Shining.
Plot[]
The Ross children become concerned that history is repeating itself after a scary old doorman tells them the legend about a nanny who once lived in the building who did something terrible to the children in her charge. After Luke purposely makes the Ross children trick-or-treat on the thirteenth floor, strange things start to happen.
Meanwhile, Jessie and Tony get ready to attend a fancy Halloween party, mainly so Jessie can give her short story to a magazine editor.
When the children are not home by their curfew, Jessie sets out to find them. Because of the story Grimm the doorman told them, the children assume Jessie is trying to kill them. When Jessie catches them, she tells them she was chasing them because they were past curfew and she needed them to be in the apartment so she could go to the party with Tony.
When they get home Jessie asks why the children would think she was trying to hurt them and Zuri replies that weird things happened that night. They tell Tony about Grimm and Tony replies saying there is no night doorman named Grimm Holloran. The children all gasp and Jessie tells them to relax and that there is no such thing as ghosts. In the end, Grim and the nanny who lived in the building are talking and she takes Luke's candy. They walk through the wall and she drops the bag. When it falls out of her hand, Luke arrives from the elevator to get it. She and Luke fight for it and she makes him drop it by scaring him. The episode ends with her sticking her head out the wall, saying "Like taking candy from a baby" and winking.
