Scream is a 1996 horror film directed by Wes Craven. It was written by Kevin Williamson. It stars Neve Campbell, Courteney Cox, and David Arquette. It is the first in a series of six films, the first sequel, Scream 2, being released the following year, and the film which introduced the character of the killer Ghostface.
The movie was a box office success. Having been made on an estimated budget of $15,000,00, it went on to earn over $103,000,000 in the United States and more than $173,000,000 worldwide.
Scream was originally rated NC-17 by the Motion Picture Association of America. The film is currently rated R for violent and gory horror and bad language. Scream was originally banned in South Korea but has been passed for viewing by people aged 15 and over in that county since 2011.
