Sleepy Hollow is a 1999 Tim Burton film, loosely based on Washington Irving's short story "The Legend of Sleepy Hollow".
Plot
Ichabod Crane is a police officer from New York City who is sent to the small town of Sleepy Hollow to investigate a series of grisly murders which the local people have blamed on the ghostly Headless Horseman. A young lad named Masbeth volunteers to help Ichabod in his investigation. Although there is a sequence in which Brom Bones frightens Ichabod Crane by pretending to be the Horseman and throwing a jack-o-lantern at him, the Headless Horseman is revealed to be a real ghost. The ghostly Horseman is controlled by a witch who is the step-mother of Katrina Van Tassel, Ichabod Crane's love interest. Ichabod, Katrina, and Masbeth manage to return the Horseman's head. He returns to Hell and takes Lady van Tassel with him. Ichabod and Katrina become a loving couple and go to New York together.
