Sprite of Squashini.
Squashini is a boss fight from the 2010 Wii video game Kirby's Epic Yarn and its 2019 Nintendo 3DS port Kirby's Extra Epic Yarn. Squashini can be fought in world 3 of Patch Land called Treat Land.
Appearance[]
Squashini's name and design relates to Halloween. His head is a jack-o-lantern and he has a ghost-like body. Squashini's name is a combination of Squash and the magician Harry Houdini (who died on Halloween night in 1926).
Squashini wears a top hat with a flower, wears a red bowtie and holds a magic wand.
Boss fight[]
When Kirby and Prince Fluff battle Squashini, the arena takes place on a stage where Squashini puts on a magic show, with yarn Waddle Dee's in the audience. A pumpkin carved to look like Squashini's head appears in the background. Throughout the fight, Squashani pulls the lever of a slot machine.
If the slots land on three ropes, Kirby will be tied to a giant bomb with a pumpkin face on it. Kirby can escape from it as well as ringing the bell on top of the bomb in order to collect beads. If the slots land on three skulls, Squashini will hold a red curtain with a skull om it and randomly throw pumpkin bombs at Kirby which he can project against Squashini. If the slots land on three hats, Squashini's hat and two copies of it will roulette on stage, and Kirby must correctly pick which hat Squashini is under. If Kirby chooses wrong, Squashini will blow fire at Kirby. Finally, if the slot machine lands on three cards, Squashini will throw magic cards at Kirby. If Kirby catches the cards without getting hit, he can throw them back at Squashini.
When Squashini is defeated, Kirby and Prince Fluff gain another piece of the magic yarn and use it to stitch two more pieces of Patch Land back together. They specifically reconnect Treat Land with Water Land and continue on their journey to stitch all of Patch Land together and defeat Yin-Yarn the sorcerer. If players collect enough beads after the fight, they will unlock the levels Cocoa Station and Dark Manor (The latter being a haunted house level).
