Taranza is a fictional character from the Kirby video game series created by Hal Laboratory and Nintendo. He first appears in the 2014 Nintendo 3DS video game Kirby Triple Deluxe as the secondary antagonist though he becomes Kirby's friend at the end of the game.
Physical appearance[]
Taranza is a spider-like creature with brown skin, grey hair with two devil-like horns on top of his head, and he has a pair of two large eyes on his face with six golden eyes, two appear on the front of his head while the other four appear on the back. Taranza has six disembodied hands that float around his torso and he wears a red scarf and a green cape that resembles a spider web.
Events in the franchise[]
In Kirby Triple Deluxe, Taranza kidnaps King Dedede thinking he is Kirby and traps King Dedede in a web cocoon and flies off with him to the kingdom of Floralia. Kirby follows Taranza throughout multiple levels, eventually reaching the castle of Queen Sectonia. Taranza controls King Dedede like a puppet with his webs to battle Kirby. After Kirby frees King Dedede, Taranza summons Queen Sectonia to aid him, only for the evil queen bee to betray him after failing to bring her Kirby. While battling her, Kirby gets trapped by Queen Sectonia's clutches while in her flower form, luckily Taranza and King Dedede save Kirby from the evil queen's grasp. Taranza then gives Kirby a miracle fruit. When Kirby inhales the fruit, he gains the hypernova ability and uses it to defeat Queen Sectonia once and for all. After Queen Sectonia is destroyed, Taranza and the people of Floralia take Kirby and King Dedede back to their home in Dream Land.
Taranza also appears as a boss fight in the spin-off games Team Kirby Clash Deluxe and Super Kirby Clash, and Taranza appears as a playable character in the 2018 Nintendo Switch game Kirby Star Allies. His move set includes trapping enemies in webbing, and he can even summon the ghost of Queen Sectonia to defeat enemies. Kirby can wear a mask based on Taranza in the 2022 Nintendo Switch game Kirby's Dream Buffet.
