The Shining is a 1980 Stanley Kubrick horror film.
Plot
The Torrence family become the Overlook Hotel's off-season care takers. The family's young son Danny has a bad feeling about it, because he has the Shining, a gift that allows him to see the future and communicate by reading thoughts. While there, Jack Torrence begins acting strange, either because ghosts are talking to him, or because he is getting cabin fever, but either way, he tries to murder his family.
Sequel
A sequel to the movie was released in 2019, almost 40 years after the first film. The sequel Doctor Sleep follows an adult Danny Torrance trying to save a teenage girl who has the same powers he does, from the True Knot.
